Patient Care Technician

PRN Personal Care Assistant 2nd and 3rd shift
REPORTS TO:
Wellness Director
Position Summary
Functions as primary caregiver in an assisted living setting. Handles and serves residents in a manner conductive to their safety and comfort. Performs duties in accordance with established methods and techniques and in conformance with recognized standards. Properly and accurately documents all care given and supplies used.
Primary Responsibilities
All employees of Westminster of Cullman are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and to uphold the safety and well-being of our residents. Employees are expected to demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents as well the aging process.
1. Escorts residents to and from their rooms, activities and dining rooms as needed and assists walking ambulatory residents as needed
2. Assists resident with personal grooming including combing hair, cleaning and cutting fingernails and toenails, assists in cleaning teeth, dentures and giving mouth care. Assists with shampoos as needed
3. Assists in bathing residents in tubs or showers
4. May take and record temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration rate.
5. Answers call system and intercom promptly
6. Keeps residents' rooms tidy, makes beds, hangs clothes, empties trash daily or as needed, and other housekeeping duties as necessary.
7. Responsible for residents' personal laundry.
8. Attends in-service training as scheduled.
9. Responsible for required reports
10. Maintains professional demeanor and appearance and conforms to dress code standards.
11. All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. At least one year experience preferred.
3. Must exhibit patience and tact when dealing with residents, their families and visitors. Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care.
4. Requires an understanding of the physical as well as the mental needs of geriatric patients.
5. Must have the ability to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks, some of which may involve unpleasant conditions; in addition to assisting residents with ambulation, bathing, dressing, eating and grooming, and other activities of daily living as needed.
6. Must be able to function in residential and commercial settings.
7. Must be able to accurately document all care given and supplies used.
Work Environment
Physical activity includes but is not limited to walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions resulting in medium strength work. Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and to exert 20 pounds of force frequently. Minimal risk involved working in a well-ventilated, lighted and temperature controlled environment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
